The Maple Leaf Chord Company

Ontario Seniors Men’s Chorus 2024-2025

The past few years has confronted our Singing Communities with many changes. Despite these many challenges, the great news is that we are reviving the Ontario District Male Seniors Chorus, the MLCC,  for the 2024-2025 season.

We will rehearse about once a month during the summer and perform at the District Fall Convention, October 18-19 in Hamilton.

Basics

The basic philosophy and goals of the MLCC have not changed since we started in 2016.  Lets return to the foundations of our sport   – get learning, singing, ringing, making new friends, and having fun.

Goals

  1. Have fun learning, singing together in a bigger, chorus,, make new friends, etc.
  2. Perform at the Ont District Fall Convention and earn a score (over 65) that would potentially give us the opportunity to compete in the Mid-Winter Convention in San Antonio, TX, Jan 28-Feb 2, 2025.
  3. If the rules at the time allow and we qualify, we will have a vote about participating in the Mid-Winter Seniors Chorus Contest.

Expectations

You are responsible for your own independent learning. Ask for help if you need it.

Your Music Team is asking that you attend 4 out of the 5 rehearsals if at all possible. Chat with the Directors if you run into problems with this. Sign-in sheets will be at each rehearsal.  Each rehearsal will be recorded and put onto our secure District website.

The Music Team wants to be able to offer individual coaching to our members on things like vocal quality, breathing, general tuning.  Thus, we will be inventing ways to offer individual and sectional rehearsals.  This may include some personal recordings done during rehearsals.

Repertoire

All Of Me
BHS 210089
arr.  Scott Kitzmiller [used in OQE 2016]

For All We Know
BHS 7397
arr.  Lou Perry

Cost

$55 per person for the regular season

If we earn the right to go to Mid-Winter, and the latest rules allow it, AND we decide to participate in the Seniors Chorus Contest there will be additional costs:  rehearsal space ($30 estimated), Registration, Travel. Room and Board, etc

After you are registered you will get a password for the Learning Tools.
