Renée Tramack

Renée is a second-generation barbershopper who joined Harmony, Inc. in 1982. Renée has sung with and been a member of several choruses and quartets. She directs New England Voices in Harmony, the 2025 International silver medalist chorus in Harmony, Inc. She lead them to two International Chorus Championships in 2014 and 2018. She sings bass with the 2016 International Championship Quartet, Taken 4 Granite, and the 2009 Quartet Champions, Showcase.

Renée has more than 40 years of experience as a chorus director. Before joining New England Voices in Harmony, she previously directed choruses in Vermont, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Renée certified as a Singing Judge in Harmony, Inc. in 2011 and served as Category Specialist from 2017 to 2024. She certified as a Singing Judge in the Barbershop Harmony Society in 2023.

Vocal Techniques for the Average Singer (Renee Tramack) You don’t need to be a champion quartet singer  or have years of voice lessons to sing better, and this class is designed to prove it. It offers simple, practical techniques that immediately improve how you sound and feel when you sing. Renee Tramack will cover the essentials in plain language: how to stand and breathe for easier singing, how to reduce tension that tires your voice, how to shape vowels that match your section, and how to find more resonance without pushing. Through easy, hands-on exercises you can take back to rehearsal and practice at home, you’ll learn to sing with more confidence, stamina, and freedom. Better individual voices make a better chorus, and every singer can take that next step

Look Inside the Music (Steve Tramack) A piece of sheet music is really a treasure map: one filled with clues to creating a living, breathing work of art. Presented with the gift of lyrics which convey emotional subtext; a melody that conveys a range of emotions through its sweeping grandeur, its pacing and shape, and the impact of intervals; harmony that creates a fabric, creates drama through tension and resolution, and provides the landscape for the journey. Rhythm provides the heartbeat; embellishments propel the music, serve as bridges that tie the song together, and help to highlight the most important thoughts. When all of these elements work together, in the hands of a sensitive performer, magic ensues. This course looks deeper into an arrangement with which almost every barbershopper is familiar and examines how we can find more music inside this music.
