Aces of Harmony barbershop quartet offering Valentine’s Day serenades

A local barbershop-style chorus is offering a unique service this Valentine’s Day.

Aces of Harmony, a male chorus that sings a cappella four-part harmony, is breaking into quartets to serenade loved ones.

The quartets are available on Feb. 12 and 13 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. anywhere in Peterborough.

Dressed in tuxedos, the four-piece harmony will sing a song or two and deliver a rose and personalized Valentine’s Day card.

Songs choices range from sassy to romantic and there’s some upbeat numbers, too.

“It always has the love element in there,” said Max van der Voet, who has sang with the Aces for 13 years.

Throughout the years, they’ve sung at businesses, schools, homes and restaurants.

They’ve performed for couples while they dine, bank tellers as they work the wicket and even a mechanic one year as he fixed a car.

Though Valentine’s Day is often thought of for lovers, van der Voet said it’s the perfect gift to give to any loved one.
