Another Great Fall Convention Comes to a Close

After a fantastic weekend of barbershop hosted by the Western Division, the Ontario District crowned a new District Quartet Champion and qualified a number of groups for 2017 International competitions.

Fleeting Sensation was named the district quartet champions with an average score of 78.3. Tall Boys qualified for the International Seniors Quartet Competition next January in San Antonio, TX. Two other quartets, ON Q! and Acapella Unplugged, put up scores this weekend that have a strong chance of earning them a wildcard spot in the contest.

In the chorus contest, the Toronto Northern Lights qualified for the International Chorus Competition next July in Las Vegas, NV with a score of 92.4, while the Hamilton Harbourtown Sound posted a personal-best score of 82.8 that gives them a strong chance at a wildcard spot in the contest. The new Ontario District Seniors Chorus also performed, earning a score of 74.9 and a strong chance of qualifying for the San Antonio Midwinter in January.

Update 2016-10-21: Three New Guys, the 11th-place mic-testers for the quartet finals, have been retroactively named the 2016 Fall Convention Novice Quartet Champions. Three members of the quartet have never competed on the district stage before.
