New Information About The Spring Convention

Lots of information to pass on regarding the upcoming spring convention.

CHORUS CONTESTANTS

If you and your chapter chorus are planning on competing, we are pleased to announce that we have acquired the use of the Quinte Secondary School (45 College St. West) across the street from the Maranatha Church (100 College St. West). Choruses will be able to use t his facility to warmup in, dress in and where the singing evaluations will take place with the judges following the contest on Saturday afternoon. The cost of the school will be shared equally with all of the choruses competing. The rental costs will not be more than $50 for each chorus and will allow access from 8:30am to 4:00pm on the Saturday. Some of the rooms booked in the school will allow for the use of risers. We will update those competing as to this availability once we know the number of choruses competing and their size. This will be our last opportunity to use this facility as the school is closing its doors for good this coming June.

PATRONS

We are thrilled to announce that the Welcome Centre will return this spring. We have acquired the services of the church’s caterer who will be providing us with coffee/tea/muffins on Friday afternoon from 3:00pm to 6:30pm and from 9:00am to 2:30pm on Saturday. Sandwich plates will be available on Saturday comprising of egg salad, roast beef or ham and cheese on either white or whole wheat bread plus some veggies at a cost of $5.00. Boxes of apple or orange juice will also be available for $1.00 each. This will allow those participating in the JBS Chorus and those early bird arrivals to grab a bite to eat before the chorus contest. The caterer will also provide lunches to the chorus participants so that they can have something to eat after the contest and before their evaluation.

HOSPITALITY ROOMS

Supertonics will once again host a hospitality room on Friday night, after the quartet semifinal contest, in the Churchill Room of the Fairfield Inn. The Ottawa Chapter has the Churchill Room booked for a night of festivities on Saturday night after the Show of Champions. The Hamilton Chapter has the Quinte Room booked for Saturday night so there will be lots to do, see and hear over the convention weekend. There are still some smaller rooms (Trent & Picton) available should your chapter like to have a gathering spot.

SIGHTS IN BELLEVILLE

This area of Ontario is renowned for its vineyards. Take a peek at the w ebsites for all of the wine produced in Hastings & Prince Edward County. Trenton has a wonderful aircraft museum that showcases the history of aviation. A new facility has been built since our last visit to Belleville. Shorelines Casino is located on Bell Street not far from our HQs hotel.

Well, that’s all for now. If you have not already registered for the convention, go to the district website (www.ontariosings.com) and do so now. We would love to see you in Belleville.
