HAMILTON, ON – 28 March 2018 – Steve Tramack, well-known to Barbershoppers worldwide for his singing, song arrangements, and coaching seminars, spent a weekend recently with Harbourtown Sound, the Hamilton, Ontario chapter of the BHS.
From 16 – 18 March 2018, Tramack worked with over seventy men, alongside Jordan Travis and Scott McCarthy, the group’s director and assistant director, to help the chorus with its musical and performance goals. The three-day retreat was held at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort in Alliston, Ontario.
The chorus also sang in concert before more than 400 attendees, as guests of the Sugartones, at their annual show, Spring Into Spring, in the resort theatre.
Tramack placed a great deal of emphasis on several issues, including fidelity, clarity, emotion, and consonance. The objective was to pursue the development of a sound unique to the chorus in its musical offerings. The men assembled, getting ready to represent Ontario at the Internationals in Orlando, were enthusiastic, responsive, and in the end, exhausted. To a man, however, they were happy to have had the opportunity to work with Tramack in such a concentrated setting.
A follow-up coaching session with Tramack is planned following the Ontario spring convention in Belleville, Ontario, 13 – 15 April 2018.
