Barbershopper Honoured with Governor General’s Award

Doug Procter, former science teacher at Seaforth District High School and 28-year barbershopper, was one of the 30 recipients from across Canada who recieved the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award at the Governor General’s residence on October 6, 2015. He was nominated by the Men’s PROBUS Club of Grand Bend where he now resides and served as secretary of the club for the past 11 years. Doug is a member of the Seaforth Harmony Kings barbershop chorus.

Created in 1995, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award recognizes living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad. Often working behind the scenes, these individuals volunteer their time and efforts to help their fellow citizens.
