SUMMARY:“A Cappella Festival: Celebrating Harmony in Ontario”.
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday\, February 8th \nTime: 10:00 – 10:45 am Registration\, Festival 3:00 – 6:00 pm \nLocation: Wilfred Laurier University campus (Waterloo) — specific location details to come shortly. \n  \nWe invite the District Board and Management Team to come to this event\, which promises to be an exciting celebration of a cappella music\, in all its various forms and glories.  The venue capacity is limited\, however\, and the participants will almost reach the limit of 175.  So\, we can’t advertise this event widely to the District.  But there is certainly room to welcome the Ontario District leadership\, and we hope that you can attend. \n  \nWhat will the day include? \n\nWe are pleased to offer music workshopsin morning sessions 11:00 am – 1:00 pm\, led by Ontario District music leaders.\nThe lunch breakwill be 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm\, to allow for sound and tech checks on the stage.\nThe Festivalwill be 3:00 – 6:00 pm.\n\nYou will likely want to prioritize the afternoon Festival\, in which the participants will showcase their talents. \n  \nWho are the participants? \nYou may have heard of ICCA (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella)\, where university groups across Ontario compete at an exciting level of talent and energy.  Our Festival will showcase ICCA repertoire from Ontario university groups — Waterloo\, Western\, McMaster\, Toronto. In addition\, the program will include performances by Ontario barbershoppers: Northern Lights\, Twin-City Harmonizers\, Sapphire\, and The ‘Loo Wops. \n  \nWhat is the Festival format? \nThink of our Pep Rally.  We’ll have an MC to keep things moving.  But essentially the stage will play host to a rotation of the various performers\, who will sing a couple of songs each. \n  \nWhat is the cost? \nIt’s free! \nWe are lucky to be receiving generous support from Sing Canada Harmony.  Everyone will know how SCH supports a cappella music education.  This event\, particularly with its focus on youth and building connections between the ICCA and BHS worlds\, is very aligned with SCH’s mission.  And we are grateful for their support in creating this opportunity. \n  \nIf you have any questions\, don’t hesitate to contact us.  We look forward to seeing you there! \nChauvin Zhou (chauvinzhou@gmail.com) \nTed Byers (ted.byers@me.com) \n
