The Ontario District was well represented at last week's 2017 International Convention in Las Vegas, NV. Three Ontario quartets competed in the quartet contest. 'Shoptimus Prime and Test Drive placed 47th and 40th respectively, with solid performances during the quarter-final round. Yonge Guns became the first Ontario District quartet in over 20 years to advance to the semi-final round, and ended up in 14th place. The last Ontario quartet to place that high in International competition was Rumours in 1985. Main Street, a perennial favourite quartet from Florida's Sunshine District captured the gold medal on Saturday during the quartet finals.

The Toronto Northern Lights placed 4th in the chorus contest with their third highest score to date, performing a tribute package to the 1977 Chorus Champions the Scarborough Dukes of Harmony. The top five choruses were as follows:

1. Masters of Harmony 2893 – 96.4%
2. Vocal Majority 2885 – 96.2%
3. Central Standard 2828 – 94.3%
4. Toronto Northern Lights 2820 – 94.0%
