Ontario District Seniors Chorus

THE MAPLE LEAF CHORD COMPANY 2022-23 – version July 26, 2022
ONTARIO DISTRICT SENIORS CHORUS

Well here it is nearly August 2022 – a whole year since Covid made us go into hibernation. We now back in the full swing of making beautiful, live music together.

Your previous registrations are still in place so there is no additional registration cost for 2022-23.  New members are always welcome.  Simply scroll to the bottom of this page for Registration.

SHORT TERM GOALS – until October 2022
Have Fun; Sing and Learn; Be Safe.
Perform at the District Fall Contest and qualify for Seniors Chorus Festival.

LONG TERM GOALS – MLCC 2022-23

In 2023 the Mid-Winter Convention and Seniors Chorus Festival will be held in Daytona Beach, FLA from Feb 4 – 15 2023. How a chorus earns the right to go to the Senior’s Chorus Festival is to be determined. Welcome to COVID-CHAOS.

LEADERSHIP

Chorus Director: Dr. Ray Danley.
Music Team: Bobby Gibson, Dave Wallace, Ken Fisher
Chorus manager: Ken Fisher.

MUSIC

The 2 songs for the 2022-23 Maple Leaf Chord Company are:

WHEN I LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND – Irving Berlin, arr. by SPEBSQSA and others.        This a repeat from last year.

AFTER YOU’VE GONE – BHS # 8842 arr.  Don Gray.  This was used in our first season.
[for previous members – We had to postpone No No Nora because our late start on rehearsals  this year removed the time needed to get it ready.

Charts and learning tracks will be available once you have registered. For those already registered, the Ontario District website Seniors Chorus Resources are still available using the same password.

You are responsible for your own independent learning. Ask for help if you need it.

Your Music Team is asking that you attend all of the next rehearsals if at all possible. Sign-in sheets will be at each rehearsal.  The plan is to record each rehearsal and make available on our secure website.

REHEARSALS

There will be 2 more rehearsals prior to the Fall contest; Sunday afternoons 1:30 – 4:00 PM.

The Safety and Health of our members is a key factor in how we plan the rehearsals. Public Health rules only define the minimum requirements for the general population. Since we are both singers and seniors, our COVID-Safety requirements will need to be more restrictive.

Finding the balance between our individual comfort levels and responsible, safe protocols will be an ongoing process for each of us. We ask all members to be vaccinated primarily for their own protection but also to help minimize transmission.  Clearly as the Covid virus and the Provincial infections levels change there may well be some randomness to our Sunday rehearsals.
